Elizabeth Siddal
Ophelia is a painting by Sir John Everett Millais, one of the most famous members of the pre-Raphaelite movement. The painting depicts the character Ophelia from William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, singing before she drowns in a river. Elizabeth Siddal was the model for the painting. It is said that Millais did not heat the bathtub where Siddal posed for the painting, even though it was the middle of winter. The resulting painting is considered a masterpiece of the pre-Raphaelite style, with its intricate details and intense colors.
We may not always be aware of the impact that we have on others, or the ways in which we will be remembered.
